Are there any extra fees?

The base of our billing structure is by time. Most of our jobs are just one hourly rate. If you're leaving Austin or starting outside the city, we will add a travel fee. If we are doing a pack & move, we will provide packing supplies and bill you what we pay for the boxes, packing paper & tape.

Do y'all wrap the furniture?

Yes! We wrap your furniture in thick moving blankets, secured by moving bands. Check out @commonsensemovers on Instagram for some examples of our work!

Do y'all do assembly/disassembly?

We are willing and capable of assembly & disassembly. We bring a tool bag to every move. Almost every bed we move must be disassembled. Sometimes desks, cribs or other larger items may need to be broken down in order to get through doorways. We can only assemble items we disassemble. For liability purposes, we cannot assemble furniture we did not disassemble, even if it is brand new out of the box. We do bill by time, so if you're trying to save money, doing the disassembly/reassembly yourself would be the common sense move!

Can we leave items in our drawers?

We are normally physically able to move furniture with items inside the drawers. Most of the time, light & soft items like tee shirts or athletic shorts are fine to ride in drawers while we'd ask you to pack items like jeans or sweaters separately. We would also recommend removing anything fragile. We cannot be liable for damaged items inside drawers. Sometimes we have to fully tip or partially tilt furniture items to get around corners/doorways, or load it in the truck properly. The drawers will be secured shut with pads & bands, but sometimes items spill out the back of the drawer, as the drawers are not designed to hold items while being transported. Additional weight in drawers can also cause structural damage to the piece in transport that we cannot be liable for.
